Maa Basulee Degree Mahavidyalaya named after the renowned goddess Maa Basulee the sister of Maa Mangala, is situated on the S.H.53 at the outskirt of Similipal biosphere. The block head quarter Thakurmunda is surrounded by similipal tiger project on the north & scenic beauty of Bhimkund, the water fall on river Baitarani on the other side. The college bears a solitary look most befitting for a centre of higher education. Though late by the popular will and craze for higher education, college was established in the year 1992 .

The long cherished dream of this locality ultimately materialized by the active co-operation of the people of Thakurmunda in general and leadership of late Raghunath Hembram, Ex-Minister in particular. Since then the College has not looked behind. On one side of the town stands the temple of goddess Maa Basuli and on the other hand stands the sylvan surrounding sprawling around more than 20 acre of land. To add to its beauty and serenity an original sal-forest stands adjacent to the college.
